cars

for the vehicles in my game i want to design three of them I want one similar in shape to either a dodge charger or a ford mustang, i want to use the dodge because its my favorite car so it would be good to make something that is similar and have it in the game although the ford has been in the film death race so it already has weapons and armor mounted onto it so if i was to use that then i wouldn't have to really design much more of it as everything that i would need will already have been done, but as the dodge hasn't been in anything like that before and it is my favorite i think that i will do that one as it will also allow me the most freedom  to do what i like with it without having the thought that there is already something out there that i could just basically copy, the second car that i want to make will be a jeep type car so it will look bigger than the first and have a gun mounted on the back or on the passengers side, as jeeps have been used in the army for years i can take ideas from them as to what the car should look like and where the guns should go, i can also use other similar vehicles such as the warthog from the halo games to give me ideas as to where i can put the weapons and to what the vehicle could look like, and for the final design i want to make a more futuristic style of car so maybe one that looks similar to the wipeout vehicles or the concept art forth the tank that i have found, i may give all the vehicles different properties depending on how much time i have and how easy i find it to make the scripts for one of the vehicles as it should only mean changing a few things around so that they behave differently to each other, i would also have to make sure they are balanced if i try to do that though as it wouldn't be much fun if one car was overpowered or one was underpowered.

Evaluation

for my project i decided to create a driving game that took place in an arena, i wanted it to be a spectator sport, like ancient gladiators so that you were playing one of the characters in this arena but it was using cars instead of actual fighting. when i was laying out my plan for what i was going to do and when i alocated each week to having a specific task, but i ran into a problem when at the end of the first month all my work got deleted and i had to start again this put me very behind schedual so i had to divide my time between writing my blog and doing the work for the game.
when it came to actualy doing the work for the game everything was going to plan i managed to get all my models completed only slightly behind schedual and could start work on putting them into the game and getting the game to work, this was made easier by using some scripts for the driving mechanics that i had got off of the unity3d.com website. but the hardest part was when i had to start creating the AI as there werent many scripts that wre very helpful ion this area and the ones that i did find wouldnt work with my other scripts that i already had workingm, so i had to ask mark for help with the scripting of the AI,. I ran into anouther slight problem aswel when somebody had either saved over or deleted my game although this wasnt a massive set back as i had most of the scripts still and it just meant that i had to spend a day putting everything back together again.
the last week ended up being very hectic although most of my game was complete i still needed the most important part the enemy AI in the end to get it done I had to settle for the enemy following a preset path with the guns acting like turrets instead of them and i had no end or start screens although these are easy to make i shouldnt have left them till the very end as they ended up looking like realy bad. as for the blog i had left it until the end to finish and after writing it out and updating it i found out a couple of dayss later that it had not made any of my changes so my blog ended up being mostly done but with no pictures in it.
if i were to do this project again one of the changes that i would make would be to not use blogger as this is the reason for most of my problems although writing everything down and printing stuff off would have been longer then the typing out of everything it would have been quicker and more efficient than using it because of the amount of problems that i have faced.
